The Black and White Ball
This ball is my favorite of all of the themed balls on the Queen Mary, for a few reasons...It is the first formal night on board and everyone is anxious to dress for the occasion. It is an easy to participate; what lady does not own at least one black gown? One does not have to enjoy dancing or even attend the ball to feel right at home in a black or white gown, many join in the fun.. For me of course being a ballroom dancer I cant wait to dance the night away in the Queens Room among all my fellow guests. On this particular cruise there was a dance group on board, providing entertainment for dancers and non dancers alike.
I chose a Black and White halter gown for this evening. This gowns special feature is the use of fabrics. The bodice and first skirt is made of a light weight satin, feels wonderful against my skin and flows great on a dance floor. The second skirt is a and overlay fly-away design made out of a sheer georgette in the same pattern. I had the hem adjusted so that I can comfortably dance in the gown, finished it off with simple jewelry and what else but sparkly silver dance shoes. In the afternoon the beauty salon was "the place to be", with many of the ladies choosing a upsweep. Instead for go for a change of pace and decide to keep my hair down in spiral curls.

A wonderful night of dancing and meeting new friends. The center picture is after a night of dancing, we look happy but a bit "spent"!! I loved everything about this gown and cant wait to wear it again sometime in the future. |
